Title: Mechanical Engineer – Full Time Position #100242
Reports to: Project Management Office - Operations, Metris Canada
Location: Metris Canada, 60 Northland Drive, Waterloo, Ontario

Opportunity:
The Metris IST group within integrates our core laser projection systems with a diverse range of 3-D measurement, metrology and automation technologies to provide advanced turnkey manufacturing solutions. As part of the engineering team, this function designs and customizes laser assisted manufacturing cells including opto-electronic products, custom designed and/or COTS mechanical hardware devices, automated positioning equipment, electronic control devices, and computer controlled measurement / quality verification systems to meet specific customer requirements. The role will require networking with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise, and periodic international travel to customer sites for engineering review meetings and commissioning activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Solid mechanical engineering design and analysis skills in various areas including packaging, stress, thermal, and vibration.
- Good understanding of manufacturing materials and processes.
- Proficient with CATIA V5 and associated design and configuration management software.
- Sound, creative judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Able to perform with little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
- Good communications skills. Able to meticulously prepare and deliver professional presentations to customers.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver required results, especially during periods of high activity. Strong organizational and technical leadership skills in a team environment.
- Experience in aerospace or similar transport design and/or construction an advantage.
- Comfort in fast-paced, advanced technology environment.
Education: A university degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Compensation: Depending on qualifications. Very competitive benefits package.
Travel: Moderate travel expected.
